Most moving companies that operate in the moving service market charge an hourly rate for local moves. Born To Move offers the same paying approach. Hiring hourly movers is the most convenient option when you’re looking to relocate a few things or move either a one-bedroom or a two-bedroom apartment. This is also the best alternative for local moving into the general area.

What’s the minimum charge policy?

Most moving companies take a 3-hour minimum charge policy, regardless of the size of the move they handle. We charge a total of $140 x 3 = $420. This is the minimum charge for any moving service that we provide for our clients. Some moving companies offer a 4-hour minimum charge. If you decide to make a call and learn more about the service you need, don’t hesitate to ask this question just to clarify about the minimum charge for hourly moves.

Incremental charge policy

What’s a moving policy on incremental charges per 15 minutes? This means you’ll get charged for every 15 minutes of the movers’ work. Sometimes, moving companies charge you for 30 minutes or even an hour, but this payment approach is used in rare cases. So, when you make a call, ask your moving helpers about their incremental charge policy. This is very important, as you don’t have to overpay movers.

What Questions Should I Ask When Hiring a Moving Company?

Moving a few things

Most moving companies provide a minimum price for their services. So, if you need a move, an hourly rate for one or two items cannot be the best option. This is natural, because a mover should work for at least several hours to make money. If movers have only one order, they won’t make a profit. In most cases, bad guys refuse to move several things unless you offer at least $100, up to $160 in total, to move several things. If you require more than one mover to complete your task, the rate will go up.

Minimum charge

Most moving companies charge their customers a minimum of 2 to 3 working hours. Born To Move offers a three-hour minimum charge policy. Many moving companies charge a minimum of three hours for the movers to come and complete the job, or $350-$450 total. So, if you need to transport a refrigerator, you should understand that there are additional charges, especially for heavy items.

Extra charge for heavy items

If you’re transporting items that weigh over 150 pounds, you may be charged a fee for extra weight. Remember that not all moving companies charge a fee for extra heavy items, but most of them take an additional fee for the service. This varies from moving company to moving company, but you’re likely to pay anywhere between $20 and $60 per piece, even for a small job.

What’s the hourly rate?

Most moving companies charge between $99 and $160 per hour for two movers and a truck. Some movers come without a truck and charge less. However, the price is only $20-$40 less because most movers have a truck. They use the truck to do the required job for you.

What Questions Should I Ask When Hiring a Moving Company?

Additional charges

If you don’t use packing supplies, your furniture can be damaged during transportation. Moving companies bring packing materials, which are charged, based on their rate plus the cost of supplies. You can provide your own moving supplies. However, eventually it will be the same cost as movers charge for supplies, from $20 to $40 extra if they bring their materials. So, if you want to save money, you should buy some basic supplies to protect your items that should be moved.

Local movers by the hour

If you have a job for professionals that requires them to move something, for example, a three-bedroom apartment or a four-bedroom apartment, moving is optional. The more movers you need, the higher the hourly rate. Born To Move professionals usually bring around three to four guys to move a three- or a four-bedroom apartment. The hourly rate depends on the number of items to be moved, but in any case, this is a huge job that requires an additional workforce and extra time to wrap and unwrap your furniture. If you expect to receive a minimum charge, the amount of stuff should be equivalent to a studio apartment, or one room, or less. Please take into account the fact that the stairs and time from the truck to the apartment are human factors that increase the cost of moving per hour. Local movers by the hour charge an hourly rate, depending on the number of people that you need to relocate a studio apartment or a three- to a five-bedroom house.

Expect to pay more

When you need to pay hourly movers for their work, please always expect to pay more, because sometimes you have more stuff to move than you might expect. Movers don’t realize this fact until the last moment. So, please get a little bit more cash in advance to pay movers. In case something is wrong, and your moving work is going slower or not according to your plan, please have at least $400 more in hand. In case your local move takes an additional hour or so, you’ll have to pay an extra fee.
