Originally farmland for beans and wheat, the area was acquired in 1881 by George K. Porter, a San Fernando pioneer. By the 1920s, the ranch was sold, and the Granada business district began taking shape. The Granada Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1928, leading to the creation of 14 miles of streets, utilities, and sidewalks. Remarkably, five original 1927 residences still stand today.
